Journey to Hope: An Evening for AFSP Long Island

Chances are you know someone, or you've been affected yourself, by suicide. It's one of those things that touches more people than we ever really talk about, and it's part of why I wanted to support this one instead of just quietly sharing a flyer.
On Wednesday, August 19, I'll be at the Boulton Center for the Performing Arts in Bay Shore for The Journey to Hope: An Evening of Music, Advocacy & Impact. A night of live music covering Sade, Phil Collins, Sting, and Simon & Garfunkel, plus storytelling and community, all in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Long Island Chapter.
None of this happens without Dr. Tywanna Williams, who did the hard work of promoting this event and pulling the whole thing together. That kind of effort is exactly what makes nights like this possible.
Dance Xtreme is performing two pieces that night too... "Wonder," choreographed by Ali Koinoglou, and "Don't Forget Me," choreographed by Tommy Tibbs. Dance says things words can't, and both pieces speak directly to hope, resilience, and healing, which is exactly what this night is about.
Every ticket helps fund the Journey to Hope Team's walk at the Out of the Darkness Community Walk at Jones Beach on October 25. Coming together like this, as a community, is part of what makes that work possible.
